Suitkees – improving the family holiday travel experience.
Suitkees
Suitkees improves the holiday travel experience of families by making their luggage come to life as travel companions. The travel companions entertain and inform the kids about their (upcoming) holiday from the day the holiday is booked till arriving at their destination. Holiday experiences often start months before leaving, living in anticipation of the destination and the time off. The companions tell the kids stories about the destination and traveling there while still at home. They help them pack (based on destination and weather forecast). And they also guide them traveling through the airport including going through checkin and customs, making this sometimes tense experience more pleasant for the whole family.
A rough sketch depicting the Suitkees experience for the family from booking the to arriving at the holiday destination.
These are just a few examples of how we used the available API’s to make the suitcases come to life during the complete holiday travel experience. In our prototype we used the
Transavia, TomTom, BOL.com, Wikikids and two Schiphol API’s but had ideas for lots more. Check the video for the complete journey from booking to take off.
We had a great time and met lots of nice and inspiring people. If you want to get an impression of the event check the videos at http://www.dutchopenhackathon.com/en/. Thanx to Open State Foundation and the seven companies for organising.
